The Shipping/Receiving Associate will manage shipping and receiving functions for all of Houston Mechatronics’ (HMI) purchases. The ideal candidate will have shipping, receiving, and purchasing experience. 


  • Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items shipped to HMI
  • Checks incoming shipments against suppliers count and notes and verifies for accuracy
  • Carefully and accurately maintains shipping and receiving records 
  • Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to appropriate personnel as required
  • Transports materials via forklift, crane, truck/ trailer, etc as needed
  • Support purchasing specialist as needed by completing purchasing orders per provided procedure
  • Maintains an accurate running inventory
  • Restocks supplies and inventory per procedure
  • Facility maintenance responsibilities as directed


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 to 5 years of shipping and receiving 
  • At least 2 years of completing purchasing orders
  • At least 2 years of QuickBooks experience 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create
    • Operation of a variety of heavy equipment 
    • Communicate effectively with engineers and other team members (verbal and written)
    • Capable of working both independently and on a team
    • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to climb ladders, maneuver in tight spaces, and stand for extended periods


While performing some duties of this job, the employee may be required to travel domestically and internationally. This role may also require exposure to a variety of construction and/or offshore platform, various bodies of water job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. 

The performance of this position will require frequent traversing in lab and storage areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
